Kendra Shorter

Kendra Shorter

Kendra Shorter has been dancing since the age of three. She is trained in ballet, contemporary, jazz, lyrical, modern, and tap. Kendra began her dance training at the Sherwood Park School of Dancing and has since then trained in Edmonton (Edmonton School of Ballet), Calgary (School of Alberta Ballet), and Toronto (School of Toronto Dance Theatre). In the summers of 2016 and 2017 she danced in Italy for the Dance Italia/ Gaga Summer workshop. Kendra has been teaching and choreographing for 3 years at local dance studios and schools. In September 2017, she was a choreographer for the Dreamspeakers Film Festival Youth Day video. Performance experience includes: Lobbyists Ensemble with Azimuth Theatre, Solo work at Rubaboo Festival, Edmonton Contemporary Dancers, and Edmonton Festival Ballet, Kendra has won numerous awards and scholarships such as: The Alberta Foundation of the Arts Dance Individual Project Grant, A scholarship to Broadway Dance Centre Scholarship, and a full scholarship to the Joffrey Ballet School.

Clogging

Kerri Orthner has been dancing since 1970 in one form or another, beginning with Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Acrobatics and Highland dancing. She started Line and Folk dancing in 1979 and has never stopped dancing and learning new styles of dance including Ballroom, Belly dancing, Hip Hop, Irish Ceilidh, Scottish Country as well as Square and Round (Choreographed Ballroom) dancing. She started clogging in 2005 and has never looked back.

As a Certified Clogging Instructor (CCI), Kerri has attended numerous workshops across North America and has instructed at many from Halifax, Nova Scotia to Irvine, California, and many stops in between including Canadian Square/Round/Clog Dance Conventions (AB, NS), Provincial Square Dance Festivals (AB, BC & SK), National CLOG Convention (TX), Nickel City (NY), City Slicker (MO), Tacoma Kickoff (WA), Internationals (SK & MB), Vernon Festival (BC), Kootenay Spring Stomp (BC), Clogover Vine (BC), NCCA and SCCA (CA), Oktober(Clog)fest (IN), co taught at Encore (TN), Fontana Clogging Workshop (NC) and has even taught a mini workshop in Taipei, Taiwan.

Kimberley is passionate about teaching and cannot wait to go in to her third season as a teacher at Dancefusion. Her love of dance started at an early age, traning in jazz, lyrical, ballet and pointe. She completed her junior grades certification in 2014 and is enrolled in children's movement and development course's at the University of Alberta. Kimberley is working on completing her Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology with aspirations to be accepted into the medical program. She loves that she has the ability to share her passion for the art with her students, as well as increase their artistry and technique.

Ballet

Krista has been teaching for over 10 years and has trained in jazz, tap, modern, lyrical, and ballet.  Krista graduated from the Grant MacEwan University with her diploma in dance and is also a graduate of the teacher training program at Edmonton School of Ballet. She has also received her qualifications in the Cecchetti ballet method  earning her Cecchetti Associate and Cecchetti Associate Diploma. Krista loves teaching all ages of students and loves watching them grow and progress each year.

Laurie Cahoon-Alston

Jazz. Lyrical, Acro

Originally from Edmonton, Laurie’s career in dance has taken her around the world as a performer, adjudicator, award-winning choreographer, convention teacher, and instructor. 
She holds her Advanced II certificate with the Royal Academy of Dancing and performed professionally with Ballet North. Performances with Ballet North included a tour of Mainland China as a Principal dancer. Laurie also worked at length as a lead singer and dancer in Japan at Tokyo Disneyland, playing such fun-loving characters as Belle, Cinderella, and Sleeping Beauty. She has also enjoyed working in the Cruise-ship industry.
Industrial and Television credits include Calvin Klein, Lancome, Tommy Hilfiger, the grand opening of Casino Niagara, and Club Firestone. She has also performed in the Tokyo “AKOM” commercial, Berenstein Bears Christmas Show with Paramount Pictures, Legends Alive, Chiropractic Association of Alberta, Cool FM radio, and appeared as a guest singer on the TV show Day By Day.  Most recently Laurie worked with Joe Media as a dancer and choreographer on their "Born to Move" series for the Physiotherapy college of Calgary's 30th anniversary. Laurie has also had the pleasure of doing voice over work in Japan, taught dance to figure skaters at the Royal Glenora Club in Edmonton, and has worked with dancers from Beijing’s Capital Normal University and taught at the Royal Winnipeg Ballet School for six years. She was the co-choreographer of escape artist Dean Gunnarson’s live televised Halloween Special. A great honor was being invited to audition for Cirque du Soleil and be added to their bank of potential performers.
Laurie truly enjoys meeting and teaching young dancers who continue to inspire her with their determination and love of dance.
